Adult Conditions We Treat

Neuromuscular Disorders

  • Carpal Tunnel – nerve damage caused by compression and irritation of the median nerve in the wrist due to trauma from repetitive work such as that of supermarket checkers, assembly line workers, typists or word processors, writers, etc.
  • Degenerative Joint Disease/Osteoarthritis – a type of arthritis caused by inflammation, breakdown, and eventual loss of cartilage in the joints
  • Fibromyalgia – characterized by chronic pain, stiffness, and tenderness of muscles, tendons, and joints without detectable inflammation. Does not cause body damage or deformity, but can cause significant pain and fatigue that can interfere with the ability to carry on daily activities
  • Osteoporosis – thinning of the bones with reduction in bone mass and density due to loss of calcium and bone protein
  • Sciatica – pain that radiates from the lower back into the buttocks and down the back of one or both legs. It usually begins as an acute pain in the lower back, then radiates down the back of either or both legs
  • Scoliosis – a lateral curvature of the spine that affects boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 18, although it is more common with girls
  • Torticollis – a form of dystonia (prolonged muscle contractions) in which the neck muscles contract involuntarily causing the head to twist and turn to one side, and/or be pulled forward or backward
  • Whiplash – an injury to the soft tissues of the neck that occurs from a sudden jerking or “whipping” of the head that strains the muscles and the ligaments of the neck beyond their normal range of motion

Neurological Problems

  • Cluster Headache – commonly affect one side of the head (unilateral) and may be associated with tearing of the eyes and nasal congestion. They occurs in clusters, happening repeatedly every day at the same time for several weeks and then remitting
  • Migraine Headaches – periodic attacks on one or both sides of the head that may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, increased sensitivity to light (photophobia), increased sensitivity to sound (phonophobia), dizziness, blurred vision, cognitive disturbances, and other symptoms
  • Tension Headaches – a headache caused by contracting of the muscles in the back of the neck, on the scalp, and sometimes in the jaw, usually related to stress
  • Vertigo / Dizziness - a feeling that you are dizzily turning around or that things are dizzily turning about you. Vertigo is usually due to a problem with the inner ear, but can also be caused by vision problems
